Chapter 465: Ice and Snow City
Li Wei patted Saint Xi on the head and said, "Go back and hide in the Magic Cottage for a bit."
Saint Xi knew she couldn’t let anyone see her.
She hummed in agreement, stepped into the Teleportation Gate Li Wei opened, and vanished from the cold Ice and Snow Plateau.
Li Wei gazed into the distance and casually tucked the dead snow rabbit into his Spatial Ring.
The snow rabbit wasn’t large, but it was at least a Tier One Magical Beast.
No creature that survived in the harsh Extreme North Icefield was ordinary.
At a minimum, they were Magic Beasts; ordinary creatures would find it very difficult to adapt to the environment of the Extreme North Icefield.
The snow rabbit was at the bottom of the food chain in the Extreme North Icefield.
Shaking off his scattered thoughts, Li Wei looked toward the few people approaching from the distance.
As they drew closer, they spotted Li Wei as well.
They seemed a bit surprised. The one holding the bow saw the bright red bloodstain on the snow and whispered, "Looks like that person already killed the snow rabbit."
"But my arrow clearly hit something... Where did the snow rabbit go?"
The man looked puzzled.
He had used a special Skill that allowed his arrows to strike targets over a kilometer away.
He had used "Eagle Eye" to lock onto the fast-moving snow rabbit, then fired a Tracking Arrow that locked onto it.
The arrow would then automatically fly for a kilometer, or even further, to hit its target.
Li Wei and Saint Xi just happened to be in the arrow’s flight path and were hit by accident.
The man in the lead glanced at Li Wei and noticed that his clothes were nothing like the attire of people from the Extreme North Icefield.
They were all dressed in incredibly thick Snow Bear fur clothes, which made them look incredibly bulky.
Li Wei, however, was only wearing a thin, long-sleeved Mage Robe.
It was obvious at a glance that he was not a native of the Extreme North Icefield.
"Let’s go over and take a look. If the Tracking Arrow accidentally hit him, we need to apologize," the burly man in the lead said.
The men behind him heard this and didn’t object.
Survival in the Extreme North Icefield was already incredibly difficult. Therefore, the human communities here—and not just the human communities, but almost all groups of creatures—were exceptionally united.
Without unity, it was impossible to survive in the extremely harsh environment of the Extreme North Icefield.
Mutual aid and support were commonplace.
As the group drew closer, they entered the range of Li Wei’s Spiritual Power perception.
Li Wei quickly determined their strength and inwardly breathed a small sigh of relief.
The man at the very front was the strongest, likely at Tier Three.
The two behind him were both around the level of Tier Two Extraordinary Professionals.
That level of strength wasn’t weak by any means.
In Maple City, they would be considered upper-middle tier.
Even in Maple City, which was now part of the Beixuan Kingdom, the strongest individual was only at Tier Five.
The number of Tier Four experts could be counted on two hands.
Tier Three was already considered high-end combat power in Maple City.
To Li Wei, however, Professionals of this strength posed essentially no threat.
They couldn’t even break through the hundreds of layers of his Invisible Armor Shield.
’Even if they had some special tricks, I have the Holy Dragon Body, which grants me immunity to the vast majority of the world’s status effects. I have nothing to fear.’
With this in mind, Li Wei decided to talk to them.
’At the very least, I need to understand my current situation and learn more about the Extreme North Icefield.’
’I can’t keep wandering around in the dark, blindly following Saint Xi’s senses.’
"Hello. That Tracking Arrow just now didn’t injure you, did it?" the burly man in the lead, Langri of the Corps, asked.
Li Wei was momentarily surprised to hear this, but he quickly understood the situation.
’So the arrow wasn’t aimed at me.’
’It was an accident.’
’Still, to be able to fire an arrow from beyond my perception range and hit Saint Xi... That range is incredible.’
’I’ve never seen such an astonishing range.’
Li Wei shook his head. "No."
Langri of the Corps breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Are you a Mage from the outside world?"
He sized up Li Wei’s attire, looking a little uncertain.
The Mage Robe Li Wei was wearing didn’t look like any he was familiar with.
Even Mages from the Extreme North Icefield didn’t dress as lightly as Li Wei did.
Li Wei nodded and said, "Yes. Hello, my name is Li Wei. I’m from Maple City, and I’ve come to the Extreme North Icefield in search of something."
Hearing this, Langri of the Corps said, "Greetings, Mage. I’m Langri of the Corps. This is Ah Di, and this is Mike."
Ah Di held a bow taller than a man, while Mike gripped a curved blade.
Their professions were clear at a glance.
One was a Divine Shooter, the other a Swordsman.
As for their leader, Langri of the Corps, it was impossible to tell what his profession was.
Li Wei couldn’t see any obvious signs of equipment on him.
Langri of the Corps explained, "Just now, Ah Di used Eagle Eye to spot a snow rabbit and fired a Tracking Arrow at it from over a kilometer away. We never expected to nearly hit you by mistake. I’m truly sorry about that."
Li Wei smiled and said, "It’s fine. An attack of that level poses no threat to me."
As soon as he said this, the looks in the three men’s eyes changed.
A flicker of surprise appeared in Langri of the Corps’s eyes, and his attitude became more cautious.
’Li Wei’s strength is even greater than I imagined,’ he thought. ’Then again, if he weren’t powerful, he couldn’t have crossed the snow mountains to get here.’
Ah Di, however, looked indignant.
He refused to admit his arrow’s Attack Power was pitifully weak.
Ah Di said nonchalantly, "I was just saving my strength. Since I was just attacking a Tier One snow rabbit, I didn’t need to use much power anyway."
Hearing this, Langri of the Corps chided him in a low voice, "Ah Di, be quiet."
Ah Di huffed lightly, turned his head to the side, and fell silent.
Langri of the Corps looked at Li Wei and said, a little embarrassed, "It’s a good thing you weren’t hurt."
Li Wei asked, "Where do you all live? Are there any human cities here?"
From this, Langri of the Corps could tell that Li Wei was completely unfamiliar with the Extreme North Icefield.
He offered a gentle smile and invited, "Since you’re not familiar with the area, I can take you to Fred. It’s the largest city in the Extreme North Icefield."
A curious look appeared on Li Wei’s face, and he quickly thanked him, "Then I’d be very grateful."
Ah Di retrieved his arrow. When he saw that the arrowhead was bent and the shaft had almost snapped from the immense impact, his heart ached.
Finding materials to make arrows in the Extreme North Icefield was no easy task.
Led by Langri of the Corps, the four of them headed in the direction of Fred.
As they walked, he told Li Wei about Fred.
"Fred is also known as the Ice and Snow City. Its ruler is the Ice Queen of the Extreme North Icefield. The city is home not only to humans but also to residents of many other races. Besides humans, the most numerous are the Ice and Snow Elves."
"Rumor has it that the Ice Queen is the King of Ice and Snow Elves, so in Fred City, you must never offend any Ice and Snow Elf, let alone do anything to harm one."
"But rest assured, the areas where the Ice and Snow Elves are active are usually separate from those of the other races, so it’s not easy to even see one."
