Chapter 464: Snowfield Natives
Li Wei and Saint Xi advanced in the direction of the Time Dragon’s treasure.
In the vast, white Snowfield, it seemed as if Li Wei and Saint Xi were the only living creatures.
As far as the eye could see, there was no sign of life.
This dashed Li Wei’s hopes of hunting some Magic Beasts along the way for Saint Xi to eat.
GRUMBLE~
Saint Xi flew beside Li Wei with her head lowered, her tail dragging a furrow through the snow.
"Li Wei, I’m hungry."
Hearing the sound from Saint Xi’s stomach, Li Wei’s expression tightened. He gave her a helpless look.
"Didn’t you just eat not long ago?"
Saint Xi raised her head, looking at Li Wei with wide, adorable eyes. "But I’m hungry again."
Li Wei was speechless.
"Fine, eat then. Go on."
Li Wei shook his head helplessly, like a weary father looking at his child.
He had created her, so he had to see her fed and raised.
Li Wei took out the last of his Demon Beast Meat and fed it to Saint Xi.
He handed a Spatial Ring filled with Demon Beast Meat to Saint Xi and said, "If you get hungry, help yourself."
Saint Xi’s eyes instantly lit up. Her face beaming with excitement and joy, she nuzzled against Li Wei’s cheek, letting out a soft whimper.
Li Wei quickly pushed her head away. "Don’t rub against me. You’ve still got blood on your mouth."
Saint Xi paid no mind to Li Wei’s disgust and began to greedily devour the Demon Beast Meat.
The Demon Beast Meat was rapidly dissolved by her gastric fluids, transforming into nutrients and energy that quickly filled her Giant Dragon cells, spurring her rapid growth and development.
Withstanding the frigid temperatures also consumed a significant amount of Saint Xi’s energy.
This was likely one of the reasons she got hungry so quickly.
Li Wei glanced up at the hazy white light on the horizon.
He and Saint Xi had been walking through the snow all night without seeing a single sign of life.
It was as if this place was truly devoid of life, with nothing but the bone-chilling, howling wind.
Li Wei glanced at Saint Xi, then at the remaining food in his hands.
’We probably won’t starve to death, but this can’t go on forever.’
Both he and Saint Xi could sustain themselves by absorbing Magic Elements.
But that was only the bare minimum for survival.
Over time, it would even cause their strength to wane.
Currently, Li Wei was relying on Magic Stones to restore his Mana.
Absorbing the ambient Ice Element from the world around him to restore Mana was far too difficult.
Fortunately, Alice had given him a large supply of Magic Stones.
CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH!
Saint Xi crunched up a Magic Stone and swallowed it.
She ate Magic Stones like an after-dinner dessert.
Never mind Magic Stones, which were rich in Magic Energy; when desperate, the Dragon Race could eat soil, rocks, and even metal for sustenance.
However, finding even a single rock in the Arctic Icefield was no easy task.
All one could see everywhere was accumulated snow and blocks of ice.
There was no nutrition in eating such things.
As he walked, Li Wei asked, "Saint Xi, how much farther?"
The Time Dragon Scale on Saint Xi’s chest shimmered. She replied, "It’s still very far. I feel like we’ve only gotten a tiny bit closer."
Li Wei sighed.
No one knew just how vast the Extreme North Icefield truly was.
According to the information Li Wei had found in the Saint Villia Library at the Elemental Tower, the deepest point humanity had explored so far was 18,000 kilometers into the Extreme North Icefield’s interior.
At this rate, it felt like it would take an eternity to reach a place so far away.
Even by Flying with Fire Escape, it was a daunting distance.
It was difficult to recover Mana in the Extreme North Icefield, so Li Wei didn’t dare to use Fire Escape recklessly to fly.
Li Wei reached out and caught a snowflake drifting down from the sky, watching it melt in his palm.
’This place is perfect for an Ice Mage.’
Li Wei sensed that the Ice Element constituted ninety percent of the ambient Magic Elements, with the remaining ten percent made up of other Elements.
Of those, the Fire Element didn’t even make up one percent.
The power of Fire Element Magic plummeted here, reduced to a tenth or even a hundredth of its normal strength.
If he relied purely on his own Mana for Casting, he could still unleash Fire Element Magic at its full power.
But the Mana consumption would increase tenfold, or even dozens of times over.
Conversely, the power of Ice Magic was significantly boosted here.
Li Wei casually cast a Tier Zero Ice Cone Skill, one of the first spells he had ever learned.
WHOOSH!
The resulting Ice Cone was over two meters long. When it shot out, it pierced through the snow, leaving a bottomless hole.
Even the weakest Tier Zero Ice Cone Skill could rival the power of Tier One Magic here.
Seeing this, Li Wei thought, ’Why didn’t I learn a few more Ice Magic spells back then?’
He quickly shook his head.
It was pointless to think like that.
His reason for not studying Ice Magic or other types of Magic was simple.
He possessed a huge advantage when it came to Fire Element Magic.
Even with the current environmental restrictions, Li Wei’s Fire Element Magic was bolstered by his Extraordinary Traits, including Flame Lord, Middle Level Flame Domain, and Middle Level Flame Rule. With these buffs, his spells wouldn’t be any weaker than an Ice Magic spell of the same level, even with the massive environmental amplification.
The only downside was the greater Mana consumption.
"AWOO! Li Wei, there’s something over there!"
Tossing out the words, Saint Xi beat her wings and shot forward.
Like a predator that had spotted its prey, she launched into a ferocious attack.
Li Wei hurriedly chased after her.
"Don’t be reckless!"
WHOOSH! PFFT!
A figure zipped across the snow, kicking up flurries of white and leaving a distinct trench in the otherwise smooth surface.
Saint Xi’s pupils contracted as she locked onto the target.
Her sharp gaze was ten times keener than a hawk’s.
The target, now locked in Saint Xi’s sights, quickly sensed the immense danger.
Without a second thought, it burst from the snow and fled into the distance as a white blur.
The white blur was inconspicuous against the vast, white snowscape.
But Saint Xi had already locked onto it.
It could not escape.
BAM!
Saint Xi dove violently, plunging into the snow. Her powerful claws slammed down on the prey, sharp Dragon Claws piercing its body.
A splash of crimson appeared on the pure white ground.
Li Wei landed and saw the prey Saint Xi had killed. He sighed and said, "Don’t be so reckless next time."
He looked down at the prey beneath Saint Xi’s claws. It was a fat snow rabbit.
This was the first native creature Li Wei had encountered in the Extreme North Icefield.
Hearing Li Wei, Saint Xi replied defiantly, "I have to get stronger, and only fighting can make me stronger!"
Li Wei shook his head, not bothering to say anything more.
He crouched down to examine the dead snow rabbit.
Just as he squatted, a sound came from behind him.
WHOOSH!
Li Wei’s eyes narrowed. His Spiritual Power detected an object flying toward his back.
It was long, thin, and sharp, and moving at high speed.
’An arrow?’
CLANG!
Saint Xi flew behind Li Wei, blocking the arrow that had been shot from afar.
The arrow couldn’t pierce Saint Xi’s tough Dragon Scales and failed to do any damage.
It ricocheted off and fell limply into the snow.
Li Wei stood up and looked in the direction the arrow had come from.
