Chapter 1218 - 929: Old Matters Revisited
The plane landed at 3 PM.
Wearing a sleeping cap, Luo Su returned from the restroom after freshening up and sat on the sofa next to Huai Shi, yawning as if he hadn’t had enough sleep.
The plane taxied on the runway, with the faint view of the endless desert yellow and the outlines of skyscrapers in the distance.
Huai Shi clutched the travel brochure and kept flipping through it, page after page, extremely quickly.
Finally, he completely skipped over it.
Casino, casino, yet again casino.
All projects he wasn’t interested in.
"What are we here for?" Huai Shi asked, "To gamble with your student?"
"Isn’t it a bit excessive to have a public expense in the Current Circumstances, Huai Shi? Isaac would kill me." Luo Su shook his head but suddenly found a new direction, eager to try: "How about pulling some funds from Tanbo? If we win, we’ll split it evenly?"
"Ha-ha." Huai Shi rolled his eyes, too lazy to pay him any attention.
"Las Vegas, huh."
Luo Su propped his chin and gazed at the increasingly larger city outside the window: "Logically, I should provide you with a pompous explanation about how this city was built, how it expanded under human original sin to today’s extent, and how it’s degenerate and indulgent...
But unfortunately, I have no interest in this at all. If you force me to say something, I can only say, it’s just this big, it’s right here, next to the things we need to retrieve."
"What things?" Huai Shi asked.
"Money."
Luo Su said, "A lot of money. If you’re unsure how much, all I can say is, a lot, a lot, a lot."
Huai Shi sighed, not wanting to ask him how much "a lot, a lot, a lot" actually is.
If he says it’s a lot, then it’s a lot.
But, during the plane’s taxiing, he began to notice something amiss. The travel brochure slowly closed, and his expression turned serious.
In America’s most famous tourist city, the huge airport, the key transportation hub, a place with countless planes taking off like clouds, why is it that aside from them... Huai Shi did not feel the presence of any other traveler?
"Old man, did you annoy someone?"
"No, this is them showing sincerity, Huai Shi." Luo Su shook his newspaper and took off his glasses from the bridge of his nose: "The host has come to greet us. Remember to act serious, don’t act like someone who hasn’t seen much."
Huai Shi chuckled.
What kind of situation haven’t I seen?
Ten minutes later, Huai Shi stared at the empty terminal and the two long lines of greeters, decked in suits or extravagantly dressed, with his eyes wide open.
This is a situation I truly haven’t seen before.
The enormous airport didn’t have a single unrelated traveler; it was completely cleared out. What should have been a major incident didn’t stir any commotion at all.
The already landed planes were awaiting on the runway, and those yet to land were circling in the sky repeatedly.
The stranded or transiting travelers were already cleared three hours ago when Luo Su and the others boarded the plane. Now, the entire Las Vegas airport was solely awaiting the arrival of these two people.
"Welcome, Mr. Luo Su, Mr. Huai Shi."
A white-haired old man propped up by a cane took the lead to step forward, nodding in greeting: "Your arrival brings prestige to this city."
Luo Su shrugged, looking over at Huai Shi: "See, I said our visit is their great fortune. No need to be polite."
Huai Shi’s eyelid twitched slightly.
He’s never met someone with such cheek.
But that old man seemed to love it, becoming more courteous: "Would the two gentlemen like to check into the hotel now? We’ve already prepared rooms for you at the Empire Star."
"A bit hungry, so let’s eat first." Luo Su casually tossed his luggage into the old man’s arms.
"Not a problem." The old man personally picked up the suitcase, following him: "Six Abyss Three-Star Chef Demons are ready to fulfill any of your culinary desires."
"How considerate." Luo Su laughed: "It seems just missing two pretty girls to feed me."
The old man remained impassive: "If you need, I will arrange it immediately."
"Then arrange a few pretty girls to eat for me." Luo Su nodded, uncertain if joking or serious: "Hope they enjoy it."
"No problem."
The old man asked, "Do you have any preferences for the dining ladies? Skin color or other?"
"Can any wish be fulfilled?" Luo Su appreciated: "You’re just like Santa Claus."
"In front of Mr. Luo Su, I wouldn’t dare boast my age." The elderly man bowed: "You are our esteemed guest; attending to you is my duty."
"See, Huai Shi, this is what professionalism looks like!"
Luo Su cheerfully told the young man behind him: "Fulfilling your every request, making you feel at home.
Even if you tell him’Sorry, we intend to burn this city to ashes,’ he’d politely say:’Sorry, that’ll take two hours because we’re short on gasoline right now.’"
"So, are you going to burn it?"
Huai Shi carried his luggage, casually walking behind, ignoring the attendant’s enthusiastic gestures.
He had already sensed the bizarre aura hidden behind the seemingly cordial atmosphere, barely bothering to look at the blinding display before him.
